The iPad is a tablet computer designed and marketed by Apple for Internet browsing, media consumption, gaming, and light content creation. Unlike many older tablets, it uses a touch screen input instead of a stylus.
The Ipad released in April 2010, and it created a bridge between smartphones, laptops, and personal mp3/mp4 devices.
As of May 3, 2010, Apple had sold 1 million iPads.
Like the older (and smaller) Ipod Touchand IPhone, the iPad runs the IPhone OS and uses a touch LCD for most user interactions It runs iPad-specific applications as well as those written for the iPhone and iPod touch, including ebook readers.
The iPad uses wifi or its 3G data connection to browse the Internet, load and stream media, and install software.
